Designing Narratives of Space - Writing Redaction Poetry

This activity took some of our old book pages and transformed them into ways of journaling prose through a method called redacting. The idea was to take pages from a page of an old book and redact (or cross-out) a majority of the words from it, creating a new poem/prose/story.

In our online session we spoke together about ways we can explore narratives and alternative stories within spaces through manipulating text. This was a journal exercise for participants to complete, and as an extra challenge they were asked to record themselves reading their poem as part of the podcast.

The sharing of the new stories/prose within the following session highlighted the distance between each of us, making us aware of how different each of us sees a spaces and can express it very differently through words.
